Outdoors
Parks, playgrounds and open spaces
Always good to get out for some fresh air, trees, swings, open space...
We like these ones...
Roundwood Park (left) - Lovely Victorian park with plenty of space, trees and pretty planting. But the real gem for parents is the park café, which is stocked with a variety of outdoor toys, so you can sit and sip a reasonably priced coffee under the trees whilst watching your little one pootle around in a pushalong car, or play in the sandpit. There's also some birds in a big cage, and a big playground.
Queens Park - one-stop shop for entertaining children when the weather's right for it. Space to run around or picnic; a great playground, including paddling pool; animals area with goats, chickens, rabbits etc.; and a park cafe with plenty of highchairs, ice cream and babyccinos.
Emslie Hornimans Pleasance - a small park with an amazing new and impressive children's play area and several works of contemporary art. See: http://www.rbkc.gov.uk/leisureandlibraries/parksandgardens/yourlocalpark/emsliehornimanspleasance.aspx

Queens Park Gardens (left) - Small but lovely park with a basketball court, older children's playground and younger children's playground - sandy area with slide is great.
Hazel Road Open Space - small playground, good for younger kids, gets annoyingly muddy in wet weather, but great in hot weather when the trees offer plenty of shade.
Princess Diana Memorial Playground in Kensington Gardens - Not too far away on the bus to Notting Hill. Catch it when it's quiet and it's amazing - a pirate ship, giant wooden sheep, musical area, teepees, water, sand, houses... Can be extremely busy and hectic with school parties though. http://www.rbkc.gov.uk/leisureandlibraries/parksandgardens/yourlocalpark/kensingtonmemorialpark.aspx
